Responsibilities within the Political Science or Sociology and Anthropology departments will be exclusively at the University of Guelph-Humber. The distribution of effort for this position will be: 80% teaching, 10% scholarship, 10% service. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of justice courses that may include some of the following: Principles of Sociology, Public Sector Management, Issues in Social Welfare, Canadian Social Problems, Issues in Ethnicity and Class, Public Policy: Challenges and Prospects, Criminology, Research Methods in Social Science, and various law related courses such as Introduction to Law.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. (or be near completion) in political science, sociology, criminology or in a subject area related to justice studies. In addition, candidates should have a record of excellence in teaching and evidence of ongoing scholarly activity in such areas as public policy and administration, social problems, ethnicity and class, criminology and criminal justice, or law.
